A book is a movie in your own hands...

Summer is a wonderful season as it gives you the needed time to read as much as you need and to think as much as you want. While reading a classic of Agatha Christie ths summer I realized something inspiring and beautiful.

When reading you just read. It's almost impossible to do anything else. You are given to the book. That's the price, eh? The book lets you read its story, learn its story but it enslaves you for as long as you read it -sometimes for much more-. You get attached to the characters. A part of their problems are yours now while you have the right to steal a part of their good times. My point is that, as an experience, real reading is a much more intense one than just watching the movie. The time you spend with the book gets you closer to the spirit of the creator. Actualy you don't need to wach the movie as millions more pictures comes to your mind making your vivid imagination a director and a viewer at the same time. All this stuff are known to every avid fun of literature.
However, nobody thinks another advantage of a book over a movie. A book can be taken to every place. Its magic never ends. You open it and the journey begins. This is practically impossible with a movie. I don't mean that somebody cannot transfer a tablet everywhere. I mean that it is not convenient to watch a video EVERYWHERE and that the pleasure of watching depends on the circumstances of where you are. Though, you can read in the metro, on a tree, without spending money, even in an igloo on the north pole without electricity.
I cannot believe that there are still people who ask the question '' Why to read the book when you can watch the movie?''. The answer is quite simple. ''Because a book is a movie in your hands. A movie you watch by the help of the the author. So the question is: Why to watch the movie when you can read the book?".

Let's travel!

Have you ever been out of your country, lost in small picturesque street, lost in your dreamy thoughts?

Last year, one of the most important things in my life happened. I travelled in Istanbul. I won't write about the museums or the landmaks. I will just write about the spirit of Istanbul, that you can feel in each step, in each movement of yours. In the morning you wake up by unique sounds that you can hear only in this part of the world. You start walking in streets covered with stones, looking around you at the old traditional houses. Dreaming of the past and thinking that you follow paths that people walk for thousands of years. Looking at the thousands waves of Bosporus mirroring the morning sun. Thousands of ships crossing the passage between Europe and Asia, East and West. Visiting the old greek neighbourhoods, you just feel the breath and the beat of the history that inhabits there. Weeping without your will, cause you understand the importance of your steps. Thinking that you live in another age. And when the night comes, after feeling in love with the sunset when the sun touches the roofs of the houses, you lay on your bed and you tranform from a daydreamer to a nightthinker. And while observing the minarets out of the window you are listening to old oriental songs you can't help thinking about how are you gonna leave this blessed place. You fall asleep to continue the dreams of the day even more wonderful, even more real...

Around you...

I'm sure that everyone sometimes gets bored or disappointed by his or hers daily routine. You start getting tired and you don't know what's the real cause. Well, in fact, the cause for this unspecific exhaustiveness is simple: lack of inspiration. You're fed up with your HW or your job cause you stop finding interest on them. I think that the only efficient recipe for this is to put a refreshed eye on what surrounds you and try to find new sources of energy and creativity.

Start with your neighborhood. Go to your balcony and stare outside for ten minutes. Try to figure out what do you love here or what is connected with your memories or what is absolutely fresh and you haven't noticed it yet. Do you live in a big city? I'm sure there is an absolutely cool graffiti near your house which makes you smile every time you look at it. Haven't you found it yet? Never mind. It's still there. Do you live in a small town in the countryside? Thousands of wonderful trees surround you each of which has a unique history. A beautiful wooden house. The waves of sea which you are able to hear by the window of your room...

I live in a small village. It's not one of the most imaginary or the most picturesque in my country. However, it has a specific characteristic which inspires me most: Elms. These huge trees which leaves slowly move when the wind passes through them makes me feel so calm and so confident. I observe the colors of the dawn and the sunset getting mixed up with these amazing leaves which are green at the up side and silver at the other. I listen to my favorite song and just looking at them forgetting anything else. This is the point. Isn't it?

That's all I wanted to tell you about neighborhood but there's much more for you to discover. In fact, there is much more to discover in your daily routine generally but I'll talk about this in another article.

Go for discoveries!

If someone does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable.

When sailors start a journey often praying ro meet favorable winds to reach their destination as soon as possible. The same thing happens in life. When you start something new you always want the circumstances to be perfect. You want ''all universe to conspire in helping you to achieve your goal''. However, what happens if you have no goals to achieve?? I'll tell you. No wind, no circumstances are favorable. Everything goes wrong simply because you don't know what's right for you.

This quote tells you to set targets. Don't be afraid of failing or being tired. In case of failing you will feel happy of not letting the opportunity slip away without using it. You will feel the satisfaction of trying. You will be much wiser by acquaring more experience than you had before. In case of being tired the tip is simple: Remember why you started. Ask yourself why it was so important for before starting it and why it became less important for you in the middle. If the answer is, on the grounds that's too difficult for you, take a small break and start again, You' re stronger yhan you think. Remember that only the ones that take the risk to go too far learn how far they can go.

Just set your targets and take the risk...

INSPIRATION

Inspiration
Anything that makes you creative, energetic, confident.
Anything that leads you to new ideas, discoveries or even inventions.
Anyrhing that makes you be yourself or even a better version of yourself.

Inspiration can be an object or a person. A quote or a song. An idea or a picture.

This blog is made in order to share what inspires me with you. My favorite songs, quotes, places, photos, books, subjects, personalities or just thoughts.

This is a greek song that inspires me most. I'll write down the english lyrics of the song:

Lyrics: Miltiadis Pashalidis

Music: Miltiadis Pashalidis
First version: Miltiadis Pashalidis

You're telling me you're tired, you don't want to wait
Weaving the same dress for twenty years
and I, who have sailed the world without a map
listen to what I learned, tied on the mast

All those who never embarked are overwhelmed with grief
and those who travelled are jealous of Ithaca

To you I will always return and if it's not enough for you
be a ship and I'll be a harbor
we'll see, my dear, who will last in the end
and who will play their part better

All those who never embarked are overwhelmed with grief
and those who travelled are jealous of Ithaca

And everything that didn't happen don't hurry to catch
since you never managed to understand
that you were always, from the start until the end
my shield, my bow and the arrow

And all those who never embarked are overwhelmed with grief
and those who travelled are jealous of Ithaca

You're telling me you're tired, you don't want to wait
Weaving the same dress for twenty years

Hope you liked it...
